Salinas Weekend 2 and good news!

My first and second attempt at doing an Ariel design I found on Google. My new goal is to learn more Disney designs.

Good news!
I'll be traveling to Thailand for a few months! I'm leaving September 30th and coming back... Who knows when haha I have a few friends there who are going to help me get situated.
I'm going to of course keep painting while I'm there. Maybe not faces, but I'm excited to maybe take a crack at canvas and acrylics or watercolor.

Excited to embark on this journey and see what the future holds.

Salinas, CA - Weekend One

I really do love that triceratops design. It's so cyooot!!

One thing I really need work on is my
Butterflies. I feel like they are really lacking some serious umph.

I think I'm capable of so much more, but I never get a chance to sit down and try new things because I've really got to crank kids out at work. It sometimes takes the fun part out of it... But I really try not to let it! Whenever a child sits down and tells me what they want, I just think "okay. *color* *correct brush*" and then I make a little goal for myself "smooth lines" or "perfect blending" or SOMETHING to keep it challenging.

Anywho, I'm off to bed! 4 days off til our 4 day weekend in Salinas for the second week.

California Tour

Hey guys!

So... I totally haven't posted in months! It's nice reading through my old posts and looking at old pictures to see how much I've grown.

I feel so lucky to be out here on the road working with such great children every weekend doing what I love. Every week I learn new things and am humbled by the beauty and talents of others around me.

Here are some of my newest paint jobs. I haven't made up any Lo-riginals in a while so these are nothing new.

Enjoy:

Triceratops

Flowers+feather

Flowers+butterfly

Skull (dinosaur)

Random roses I did on my arm.

This week I'll be learning how to do freehand glitter tattoos. I know how to do them with stencils already, but where's the fun in that?! Lol I'll get some pictures of those up soon.

Lots of firsts! - Boise, ID

Boise, ID was such a great show. Great temporary painters, great kids with awesome imaginations, and just all around kind people. We really enjoyed the time spent.

Here are some of the designs I was doing this weekend!

I really love to change the "same" design from person to person. It keeps me from getting bored and allows me to be more artistic. The whole 2-4 minutes per face thing is just so mindless! Yes, of course I can do a tiger in 2 minutes but why would I want to? If the child will allow it, I'm going to paint my heart out for each and every one of them!

Terminator!

I'm terrible at skulls but I really enjoyed this one!

This young girl wanted a picture copied from google. Her and her family were so happy and impressed. Loved hanging out with them for a bit!

And last but not least... The cutest brothers on the face of the earth! One of them trying to force a smile on the other for the picture.

Thanks to everyone who allowed me to photograph them.

See you again soon, Boise!

Face Paint for eyes! Daly City, CA

Meet Miss Danielle! Another face painter here at Jurassic Quest, my boyfriends sister, and part time model ... At least for me haha

This design is one I found on Google images. I'm not sure who came up with it but it is a beautiful design! I'd been wanting to try it for a while. I'm so glad I finally had the chance.
Mehron: blue Lagoon
Tulip: white, neon blue, green
Wolfe Hydrocolor: black
This wave is a typical Japanese wave put on the eye by me. A sort of design by me! I wish this venue had better lighting so you could really see how stunning and sparkly it is on her.

P.S. Update on my feelings about black paint. Wolfe is my new favorite!! Yes, tulip is initially easier to use, but Wolfe blends better, is more gelish and stays on longer. After playing with the Wolfe colors more I'm really starting to fall in love with them. For now, the team and I are all stocked up on Tulip but as we run out I'll be replacing them with Wolfe product :)

Tulip has my heart - San Jose, CA

The only picture I took this weekend was of this triceratops. The company recently invested in some BAMS stencils and I was having a great time trying all the different ones out.

For anyone who is wondering, we bought the Organic BAMS set. It has a few kinds of scales, leaves, birds, cheetah, and zebra. You can check it out at Sillyfarm.com. I think the set was $21. I like the smaller sized stencils better for faces... Especially kids faces. The full sized stencils are just too hard to maneuver over all the curves of the face in my opinion.

Tulip: Hot Pink, Black, white, hot purple,
Paradise Mehron: Lavender (not sure of the actual name)

It's been about 6 months since I started face painting and I'm happy to say I'm starting to develope my own style. I still have a lot to learn! And I'm anxious to learn all of the techniques I can. I'm also trying to learn how to use more professional paints such as Wolf FX, Paradise, and Tag. Honestly though, I prefer tulip. It's so easy to use! The other brands tend to be so much clumpier and general harder to use... With a brush anyway. Anything is easy with a sponge though.

As far as professional brands go, Wolf FX is my favorite for black. I can't stand paradise for black! Lol I would recommend Tulip black for a beginner. It's so easy to get a crisp thin line without too much work or having to worry about the perfect water to paint ratio.

Maybe I'm just unskilled! Lol either way, Tulip has my heart.

That's all for now :)
